Each year during Lent we give a gift to the poor in honor of Jesus' gift of his life on the cross.

This year our gift will be given evenly to:

1. Launch a new Neighborhood Ministry later this year. We will choose which ministry as we continue to talk with neighbors and parishioners to assess community needs and how our church can sserve our neighbors. Areas we are currently exploring are ministries such as:

  • A legal clinic in our Ministry Space through an organization called Administer Justice
  • An afterschool program for refugees and immigrants at Hill Elementary through World Relief.
  • An ESL tutoring program with World Relief in our Ministry Space
  • Or some other neighborhood ministry opportunity

2. Support global workers from our Diocese serving in the Middle East* through microbusinesses to resource the poor and share the good news of Jesus. From one of the pastors, Elijah (pseudonym):

"Sustainable agriculture is one of the highest felt needs in our country and our NGO was specifically asked to engage in initiatives that would promote food security for future generations. We will be partnering with another NGO that owns land about forty-five minutes outside our city. These pilot projects will be serving a local refugee camp and a couple of small villages near the land."

These two programs are:

  • Hydroponics: The goal of this project is to distribute nutritional food, grown in our greenhouses, to aid impoverished communities while also teaching leaders from these same communities how to run their own hydroponic projects. Click here to watch a 1 minute video that explains more about hydroponics.
  • Raising sheep: The the goal of setting up micro-business opportunities for families who have lost their sources of income due to unrest in the region.

*Due to safety, exact location cannot be shared.
